Field of use

• The drug contains dry yeast from cultures of the defined tribe Saccharomyces cerevisiae Hansen CBS 5926 (in the med. Use also referred to as saccharomyces boulardii) in viable form in diarrhea and acne.
• It is used:
  • To treat complaints in acute diarrhea.
  • For preventing and treating complaints in the event of travel diarrhea and in the event of diarrhea under probe nutrition.
  • For supportive treatment in chronic forms of acne.

Contradictions

• The medicine must not be taken,
  • if you are hypersensitive (allergic) against yeast or one of the other components of this medicine.
  • of immunosuppressed or hospitalized patients (due to serious illness or disturbed/weakened immune system),
  • of patients with central venue catheter.
• Application in children
  • This medicine should not be used in infants and toddlers under 2 years due to a lack of examinations for dosage.

dosage

• Always take this medicine exactly according to the instruction. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not quite sure.
• Dosage:
  • Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose for children from 2 years and adults is:
    • To prevent the travel threat, starting 5 days before departure 1 - 2 hard capsules every day.
    • In acute diarrhea 1 - 2 hard capsules daily.
    • Take 3 hard capsules every day for acne.
    • In the case of a probing food-related diarrhea, give 750 mg (= content of 3 hard capsules) in 1.5 liters of nutrient solution once a day.

 

• Duration of the application
  • The treatment should continue a few days after the end of the diarrhea.
  • For supporting chronic forms of acne, taking over several weeks is recommended.
  • In principle, no restrictions on the duration of use are known for taking yeast preparations.
  • In any case, please note the information under categories "patient information" and "side effects".
• Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the drug is too strong or too weak.

 

• If you have taken a larger amount than you should
  • Poisoning with preparations from dry yeast have not yet become known.
  • If you have taken a larger amount than you should, please notify a doctor. This may decide on the necessary measures. The side effects listed in the "side effects" category may occur.

 

• If you have forgotten the intake
  • If Taking you too little or forgot you to take it, do not take the double amount next time, but continue with taking it as prescribed by your doctor or described in the dosage instructions.

 

• If you cancel the intake
  • The intake can be interrupted or ended at any time, since stopping is usually harmless.

Taking

• Please take the hard capsules in an unscrowed chew with sufficient liquid (e.g. a glass of water) before meals.
• To take the hard capsule in children under 6 years, open the hard capsule by pulling apart the capsule halves and stir in the content in food or liquid (room temperature).
• In the event of a probing food due to the tutorial, only the content of the capsules must be added to the nutrient solution.

Patient information

• Particular caution when taking the drug is required if the following applies:
  • In the event of diarrhea that lasts longer than 2 days or with blood and temperature increase, a doctor should be consulted.
  • In the case of diarrhea, especially in children, the most important treatment measure must be paid to the replacement of liquid and salts (electrolytes). Diarrhea in infants and young children require consultation with the doctor.
  • A doctor should be consulted if the acne is aggravated or absent.
  • If microbiological stool examinations are carried out shortly after treatment with this medicine, the intake should be communicated to the examination laboratory, otherwise false-positive findings can be created.

 

• Wateriness and operating machines:
  • No restriction.

Pregnancy

• So far, there have been no evidence of risks in pregnancy and breastfeeding from the widespread use of yeast as food. Results of experimental studies are not available.
• Therefore, the drug should not be used during pregnancy and during breastfeeding.
