The active ingredient relieves the urge to cough by paralyzing the cough center in the brain. To prevent mucus from accumulating in the airways, the substance is only suitable if the cough is completely dry. Overdosing runs the risk of causing airway congestion or difficulty breathing.

What are the contraindications?

Always:
- Hypersensitivity to the ingredients
- Bronchial asthma
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (chronic respiratory disease with narrowing of the airways)
- Pneumonia
- Respiratory weakness
- Reduced breathing
- Impaired liver function

In certain circumstances - talk to your doctor or pharmacist about this:
- Cough with heavy mucus production
- Tendency to drug abuse

Which age group should be considered?
- Children under 14 years of age: This medicine should generally not be used in this age group.

What about pregnancy and breastfeeding?
- Pregnancy: Consult your doctor. Various considerations play a role in whether and how the medicine can be used during pregnancy.
- Breastfeeding: Consult your doctor or pharmacist. They will assess your specific situation and advise you accordingly on whether and how you can continue breastfeeding.

- This medicine contains alcohol and therefore poses a risk to people with liver disease, alcoholics, epileptics, brain damage, pregnant women, breastfeeding women, and children.
- Caution if you are intolerant to glucose and fructose. If you are on a diabetic diet, you should take the sugar content into account.
- Caution if you are intolerant to sucrose. If you must follow a diabetic diet, you should consider the sugar content.
- There may be interactions with certain medications. Therefore, you should always inform your doctor or pharmacist about any other medication you are already taking before starting treatment with a new medication.
