What speaks for higher doses of vitamin K2?

Especially as we get older, our body is increasingly special exposed to stressful situations and the need for vitamin K increases.

In Dr. Jacob's Vitamin K2D3 Oil contains long-chain vitamin K2 (menaquinone-7). This is particularly bioavailable and has a long half-life in the body. With a half-life of around 3 days, vitamin K2 is around 50 times longer than vitamin K1 (about 1-2 hours). This makes it possible to build up effective blood levels of vitamin K2, so that vitamin K2 can develop its effect throughout the body.

Only 12% of the population have good vitamin D3 levels

When there is little sunlight, the supply of vitamin D through food is sufficient and the body's own formation in the skin often does not stop. A vitamin D level of over 75 nmol/l, reported by experts and the Endocrine Society (among the oldest and most important medical organizations in the world) is considered optimal, only 12% of the German population have it.¹

This is what the Endocrine Society recommends for adults at risk of vitamin D deficiency a daily intake of 37.5-50 μg vitamin D, which corresponds to 1500-2000 I.U. The well-known US-medical society recommends it for everyone over the age of 70 for geriatric medicine daily 100 μg (4000 I. E.) Vitamin D to maintain optimal vitamin D levels of ≥ 75 nmol/l. This corresponds to that of the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) daily intake of vitamin D derived as safe or tolerable for people over the age of 11 from all sources.

Vitamin D3 can reduce the risk of falls

Falls are a risk factor for broken bones in men and women, especially from the age of 60. An increased risk of falls in old age can be related to the vitamin D supply. Daily intake of 800 IU (20 μg) of vitamin D from all sources over the age of 60 helps in reducing the risk of falls associated with physical instability and muscle weakness.

Why is the combination of vitamin K2 and D3 useful?

Vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 contribute to the maintenance of normal bones, as they work together to store calcium in the bones. Vitamin D3 causes the formation of osteocalcin (an important protein in bone metabolism) and vitamin K2 its activation. Only osteocalcin that has been activated can build calcium into the bones.

Furthermore, vitamin K2 also activates MGP (central calcium-binding protein in connective tissue and vessel walls) and supports normal blood clotting. Vitamin K2 enables the formation of coagulation factors and also anti-coagulation factors, especially of protein S. Doses of 180 μg of vitamin K2 per day have proven to be particularly effective in studies.

The estimated value given by the DGE (German Society for Nutrition) for a Adequate intake of vitamin K increases significantly after the age of 51 (in women from 60 to 65 μg/day; in men from 70 to 80 μg/day).

Tip: Vitamin K2 and D3 work particularly well in combination with Dr. Jacob's base powder!

The combination of K2 and D3 is very good. But I always take 3-4 drops. It is very good for my immune system, especially in the winter months.

My personal need for vitamin K is higher than that for vitamin D. I think it's good that I get what I previously needed 2 products for my dosage in one product. This makes it a lot easier for me.
