Consuming alcohol and caffeinated beverages such as coffee and black tea in the evening can lead to an increased urge to urinate at night. Therefore, avoid such beverages as much as possible and drink as little liquid as possible approximately two hours before going to bed.

TENA^® Discreet Normal Night is a thin 10 mm pad suitable for use in cases of mild to moderate bladder weakness. Despite the thin material, it is very absorbent thanks to Dry Fast Core™ technology, quickly absorbing leaking urine and safely storing the fluid in the absorbent core. Compared to TENA^® Lady Discreet Normal for daytime use, the nighttime pad is wider and longer at the back. This provides additional leakage protection when lying down.

What causes an increased urge to urinate at night?
As we age, it is natural to need to go to the toilet more frequently due to physical changes. One or two trips per night are completely normal, as the bladder of older people can hold less urine and the bladder muscle loses elasticity. In addition, certain habits can also lead to a nighttime urge to urinate, for example, if the affected person consumes diuretic foods or caffeinated drinks and alcohol.

Does drinking less help with bladder weakness?
No, this is not a suitable measure. To protect your health and especially to prevent urinary tract infections, the optimal fluid intake is about 30 ml per kilogram of body weight per day. A woman weighing 65 kg needs just under two liters per day. What you drink is crucial. It is recommended to avoid caffeinated sodas, teas, coffee, and alcoholic beverages. Instead, water and unsweetened herbal and fruit teas help to provide the body with sufficient fluids.
