Septansal® is a nasal spray that has a liberating effect on the nose in a runny nose in connection with a cold or a pollen allergy.
With the proven combination of active ingredients of xylometazolin hydrochloride and dexpanthenol, Septanasal® has the double effect of the decongestant and protective effect on the nasal mucosa. Septanasal® contains no preservatives and works up to 11 hours.

Field of use
- The drug for children contains the active ingredient xylometazolin hydrochloride.
- Xylometazoline quickly narrowed the vessels and thereby causes a swelling of the nasal mucosa and reduces mucus secretion. This reduces the feeling of a blocked nose.
- The preparation for children is used:
- To swell of the nasal mucosa with nasal mucosal inflammation (runny nose) and to support the healing of mucosa lesions,
- for relief in the case of non-allergic nasal mucosal inflammation (vasomotor flow sniffing),
- to treat difficult breathing through the nose after surgery on the nose.
- This medicine is intended for children aged 2-6 years.

Contradictions
- What should you consider before the application?
- The medicine for children must not be used,
- if your child is allergic to xylometazolin hydrochloride or one of the other components of this drug.
- if your child suffers from a dry inflammation of the nasal mucosa with bark formation (dry runny nose).
- if the pituitary gland was removed during an surgical intervention or other surgical interventions were carried out that exposed the meninges.
- This medicine must not be used in children under 2 years.

dosage
- Always apply this medicine as described or exactly after the agreement made with your doctor or pharmacist. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
- For children between the ages of 2 and 6 years, the recommended dose for children is up to 3 times a day a spray in each nose opening. The dosage depends on the individual sensitivity and the clinical effect. The duration of use is limited to 7 days. A new application should only take place after a break of several days.
- Application in children

- If you have used a larger amount for children than you should

Taking
- Before the first application and after a long break, the pump should be operated 5 times until a fine spray lever is handed over.
- The spray head tip should be inserted as vertically as possible into the nasal opening and the spray head should be pumped. During the spray process, the patient should breathe through the nose. If necessary, the procedure for the other nostril should be repeated.
- Long -term use and overdose of this drug can lead to chronic nasal mucosal swelling and a decrease in the nasal mucosa thickness (damage).
- Patients who suffer from an increased intraocular pressure (glaucoma), in particular narrow -angle glaucoma, should contact a doctor before using this drug.

- Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using the preparation,
- if your child is treated with monoaminoxidase inhibitors (MAO inhibitor) or other potentially blood pressure-enhancing medicines,
- if your child suffers from an increased intraocular pressure (glaucoma), in particular an angular angle glaucoma,
- if your child suffers from a serious disease of the cardiovascular system (e.g. coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, long-qt syndrome),
- if your child suffers from a tumor of the adrenal gland (Phäochromocytom),
- if your child suffers from metabolic disorders (e.g. an overactive thyroid gland with excessive sweating, an increased body temperature, fast heartbeat or if your child suffers from diabetes),
- if your child has a metabolic disease known as porphyria,
- when your child's prostate is enlarged (prostate hyperplasia).
- The use of chronic runny nose may only be carried out under medical control due to the loss of the nasal mucosa.
- Incorrect application or overdose can lead to undesirable effects in the entire organism, especially in children.
- The application of this drug is not recommended if your child already applies:
- A medicine for the treatment of the flu,
- a cough and cold agent that contains sympathomimetics (medicinal products for the treatment of a clogged nose such as pseudoephedrine, ephedrine, phenylephrin, oxymetazoline, xylometazoline, tramazoline, naphazoline).
- The use of these medicines together with the preparation can increase the risk of unwanted effects on the cardiovascular system and the central nervous system.
- Avoid direct contact of this drug with your eyes.
- Children
- Do not apply a higher dose than recommended by your doctor. If you have any questions about the duration of treatment and frequency of application in children, contact your doctor.
- The medicine is only suitable for use in children aged 2-6 years. For children over 6 years, other strengths of this drug with a higher concentration of active ingredients are available.
- You should monitor the application of this drug in your child.
- If your child doesn't feel better or worse after 3 days, please contact a doctor.
