Field of use

Selenium - the multi -talent for cell health (1) Available with insufficient selenium supply or special needs with 50, 100 and 200 µg. The Selen trace element acts as a cofactor of different selenon proteins and is involved in a large number of metabolic reactions. As part of the active center of selenon proteins, selenium is necessary for the function of the enzyme glutathione peroxidase (6). Selen is in a central position of the enzyme molecule and plays a central role in the elimination of cell -damaging compounds. In the thyroid gland in particular there is a high activity of this antioxidant protection enzyme. If the activity of glutathione peroxidase is reduced, undesirable radicals are only inadequate and can attack and damage cell membranes (7). The body cannot produce selenium itself, so sufficient absorption through food is necessary. The selenium content of vegetable and animal food fluctuates depending on the selenium content of the soil. In parts of Central and Northern Europe, the floors are rather low in selenium, so that vegetable foods can only have low levels (8). Selen -rich foods are e.g. B. Sea fish, meat, offal and paranese.
