Field of use

• The preparation is a medicine to bind phosphate in the intestine.
• Field of use
  • To reduce the phosphate absorption from the intestine in patients with renal failure and increased serum phosphate mirrors, especially in patients in the dialysis program.

Contradictions

• The preparation must not be taken
  • if you are hypersensitive (allergic) against the active ingredient or one of the other components of the preparation.
  • in the case of hypophosphatemia (too low phosphate blood content).
  • in the case of stool plug.
  • for large intestine (narrowing of the colon).
  • from infants and children up to the age of three.
  • during pregnancy.

dosage

• Always take the preparation exactly according to the instruction. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not quite sure.
• The dosage depends on the amount of the serum phosphate mirror.
• Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is:
  • 3-6 Hard capsules of the preparation (900 mg-1800 mg aluminum chloride hydroxide complex (9: 8: 19) 23 H2O) per day.
  • For children from the age of three, the dosage must be reduced according to the body weight.
  • The plasmaaphosphate mirror should be checked regularly to adjust the dosage.
  • The hard capsules are taken over the day with sufficient liquid over the day.

 

• Duration of the application
  • As long as an increased serum phosphate mirror requires the prescription of the preparation by your doctor.
  • Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the preparation is too strong or too weak.

 

• If you have taken a larger amount of the preparation than you should
  • There may be stool plugs, although the use of laxatives may be necessary. Please speak to your doctor about this.

 

• If you forgot to take the preparation
  • Do not take the double dose if you have forgotten the prior intake, but continue in this case with the prescribed intake. However, please inform your doctor.

 

• If you stop taking the preparation
  • Please inform your doctor if you stop taking the preparation.

 

• If you have any further questions about the application of the drug, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Taking

• The hard capsules are taken over the day with sufficient liquid over the day.

Patient information

• Particular caution when taking the preparation is required
  • Regular checks of aluminum blood level are required when using the preparation. 40 µg/l should not be exceeded.
  • In addition, nerve medical examinations (including measurement of the brain flows) and possibly examinations of the bone should be carried out at regular intervals (about half years) in order to identify aluminum poisoning as early as possible.
  • The phosphate mirror should be regular controls for dose adjustment.

 

• Wateriness and operating machines
  • No studies were carried out on the effects on traffic and the ability to use machines.

Pregnancy

• Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking/using all drugs.
• Pregnancy
  • The preparation must not be taken during pregnancy, since there are no experience in humans and animal experiments with aluminum connections showed harmful effects on the descendants.
• Breastfeeding
  • The preparation should not be taken during breastfeeding because aluminum merges into breast milk.
