Field of use

• The medicine is a means for use in the nose (Rhinologikum) and contains the alpha sympathomimetics xylometazolin hydrochloride.
• Xylometazolinhydrochloride has vascular properties and thus causes the swelling of the mucous membrane.
• Field of use
  • To swell of the nasal mucosa in runny nose, sequence -by -punch flow sniff (rhinitis vasomotorica), allergic runny nose (rhinitis allergica).
  • To make the secretion outflow easier for inflammation of the sinuses and in the case of catarrh of the tube agent in connection with runny nose.
• The medicine is intended for adults and school children.

Contradictions

• The medicine must not be used,
  • if you are hypersensitive (allergic) against xylometazolin hydrochloride or one of the other components
  • with a certain form of chronic runny nose (rhinitis sicca)
  • in the event of surgical removal of the pineal gland through the nose (transphenoidal pituitary) or other surgical interventions that expose the meninges
  • in children under 6 years.

dosage

• Always apply the medicine exactly according to the instruction. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not quite sure.
• Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is:
  • In adults and school children, a spray is brought into each nose opening up to 3 times a day.
  • The medicine is suitable for school children over 6 years and adults. It must not be used in children of the age group under the age of 6.
  • For children from 2 - 6 years, preparations with 0.05 % xylometazolin hydrochloride as well as for infants and toddlers are available to have preparations with 0.025 % xylometazolin hydrochloride.

 

• Duration of the application
  • The preparation should not be used for more than 7 days unless the medical order.
  • A new application should only take place after a break of several days. Chronic runny nose may only be used due to the risk of the loss of the nasal mucosa.

 

• Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the preparation is too strong or too weak.

 

• If you have used a larger amount than you should,
  • if you inform your doctor immediately.
  • Poisoning can occur through significant overdose or by accidentally taking the drug.
  • The clinical image of poisoning with xylometazolin hydrochloride can be confusing, since phases of stimulation can alternate with phases of oppression of the central nervous system and the cardiac kit system. Especially in children, after overdose, central nervous effects with cramps and coma, slow heartbeat, respiratory arrest and an increase in blood pressure, which can be replaced by a drop in blood pressure.
  • Symptoms of stimulation of the central nervous system are fear of fear, excitement, hallucination and cramps.
  • Symptoms due to the inhibition of the central nervous system are humiliation of body temperature, lethargy, sleepiness and coma.
  • The following other symptoms can occur:
    • Pupil narrowing (miosis), expansion of pupils (mydriasis), fever, sweating, pallor, bluish discoloration of the skin as a result of the decrease in oxygen content in the blood (zyanosis), palpitations, breathing depression and breathing arrest (apnea), nausea and vomiting, psychogenic disorders, increase or humiliation Blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, too faster/too slow heartbeat.

• If you have forgotten the application
  • Do not apply the double dose if you have forgotten the previous application, but continue using the application according to the dosage instructions.

Taking

• The preparation is intended for nasal application.

  • Prostate enlargement
  • Metabolic disease (porphyria)
