Field of use

• The preparation is a means for use in the nose (Rhinologikum) and contains the alpha sympathomimetics xylometazolin hydrochloride.
• Xylometazolinhydrochloride has vascular -narrowing properties and thus causes a swelling of the mucous membrane.
• The medicine is used
  • to swell of the nasal mucosa (short -term treatment) in runny nose, seizure of flow sniffing (rhinitis vasomotorica) or allergic runny nose (rhinitis allergica)
  • to make the secretion outflow easier for inflammation of the sinuses and in the case of catarrh of the tube agent in connection with runny nose. In this case, the medicine may only be used according to medical instruction.
• The preparation is determined for children between 2 and 6 years.

Contradictions

• The medicine must not be used,
  • if they are hypersensitive (allergic) against xylometazolin hydrochloride or one of the other components of the preparation.
  • if you suffer from a certain form of chronic runny nose (rhinitis sicca, dry inflammation of the nasal mucosa with bark formation).
  • after surgical removal of the stone gland through the nose (transphenoidal hypophysectomy) or other surgical interventions that expose the meninges.
  • for infants and small children under 2 years.

dosage

• Always apply the medicine exactly according to the instruction. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not quite sure.
• Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is
  • In children between the ages of 2 and 6 years, however, 1 - 2 drops are inserted into each nose opening as needed - up to 3 times a day.

 

• Duration of the application:
  • The medicine must not be used for more than 7 days unless the medical order.
  • A new application should only take place after a break of several days.
  • Chronic runny nose may only be used due to the risk of the loss of the nasal mucosa.
  • Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the drug is too strong or too weak.

 

• If you have used a larger amount than you should
  • As a result of a significant overdose or by accidental taking the medicine, the following effects can occur:
    • Pupil extension or narrowing
    • Nausea and vomiting
    • Ballion, blue coloring of skin and lips
    • Fever, sweating or dropping the body temperature
    • Cardiovascular disorders such as too slower, too faster or irregular heartbeat, increase or drop in blood pressure
    • Exposition of the breathing
    • Lethargy, sleepiness and coma
    • Feeling of fear, excitement, hallucinations and cramps
  • Especially in children, cramps and coma, slow heartbeat, exposure to breathing and an increase in blood pressure, which can be replaced by a drop in blood pressure, occurs, especially in children.
  • In the event of poisoning, you must inform your doctor immediately, surveillance and therapy in the hospital are necessary.

 

• If you have forgotten the application
  • Next time, do not apply the double dose if you have forgotten the previous application, but continue the application as described in the dosage instructions.

 

• If you have any further questions about the application of the drug, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Taking

• Place on your back or put your head back, insert the dripper tip into the nostril and pump it once or twice. Repeat the process at the other nostril.
• Wipe the droplet tip with a clean paper handkerchief.
• Hints:
  • Perform a few pumping processes before use until a drop appears from the tip of the drop. In all the following applications, the drops are ready for use.
• It is advisable to take the nose thoroughly before using the drops . The last application on every treatment day should be done cheaply before going to bed.
• For hygienic reasons and to avoid transmission of pathogens, each bottle should only be one and the same person vbe expected.

Patient information

• Particular caution when using the drug is required,
  • if they are treated with certain mood-enhancing medicines (monoaminoxidase inhibitors [MAO-Hemmer]) and other potentially blood pressure-enhancing medicines.
  • if you suffer from increased intraocular pressure, especially narrow -angle glaucoma.
  • if you suffer from severe cardiovascular diseases (e.g. coronary heart disease [KHK], high blood pressure).
  • if you suffer from a tumor of the adrenal gland (Phäochromocytom).
  • if you have metabolic disorders such as B. hyperthyroidism or diabetes (diabetes mellitus) are available.
  • if you have an enlargement of prostate.
  • if you suffer porphyria from metabolic disease.
• The permanent use of sniffing-swelling sniffed medicines can lead to chronic swelling and finally to the loss of the nasal mucosa.
• Children
  • The preparation must not be used for infants and toddlers under 2 years.

 

• Wateriness and operating machines
  • No impairments can be expected in the event of intended use.

Pregnancy

• Since the security of the drug is not sufficiently proven during pregnancy and breastfeeding, you may only apply the preparation on the advice of your doctor and only after this has carried out careful benefits/risk assessment. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the recommended dosage must not be exceeded, since overdose can affect blood supply to the unborn child or reduce milk production.
