Field of use

• The drug contains the active ingredient omeprazole. It belongs to a group of drugs called "proton pump inhibitors". These work by reducing the amount of acid that produces their stomach.
• The medicine is used in adults for brief treatment of reflux complaints (e.g. heartburn, acid resolution).
• Reflux is the backflow of acid from the stomach into the esophagus that can ignite and cause pain. This can lead to signs of illness such as a burning pain rising to the throat in the chest (heartburn) and an acidic taste in the mouth (acid resolution).
• It may be necessary to take the tablets 2-3 consecutive days in order to achieve an improvement in the symptoms.

Contradictions

• The medicine must not be taken
  • if you are allergic (hypersensitive) against omeprazole or one of the other components of the drug
  • if you are allergic to medicinal products that contain other proton pump inhibitors (e.g. pantoprazole, lansoprazole, ravenprazole, esomeprazole)
  • if you take a medicine that contains Nelfinavir (against HIV infection).
• If you are not sure, speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the drug.

dosage

• Always take the drug as described in this package insert. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not quite sure.
• The usual dose is a 20 mg capsule once a day over 14 days. Find your doctor if you are not symptom -free after this period.
• It may be necessary to take the capsules 2-3 consecutive days in order to achieve an improvement in the symptoms.

 

• If you have taken a larger amount than you should
  • If you have taken a larger amount than recommended, speak to your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

 

• If you have forgotten the intake
  • If you have forgotten taking a dose, take it as soon as you think about it. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, leave out the forgotten dose. Do not take the double dose to compensate for the forgotten dose.

Taking

• It is recommended that you take your capsules in the morning.
• You can take your capsules with food or on an empty stomach.
• Swallow your capsules as a whole with a ½ glass of water. Do not chew or crush the capsules because they contain excessive pellets that prevent the drug from being decomposed by the acid. It is important that the pellets are not damaged. These micropellets contain the active ingredient omeprazole and are exaggerated in gastric juic resistant, which protects them from being broken down during the stomach passage.
• The pellets release the active ingredient in the intestine, where it is absorbed by their body in order to develop its effectn.
• If you have difficulty swallowing the capsules:
  • Open the capsule and swallow the contents immediately with a ½ glass of water or add the contents to a glass with still (non -bubbling) water, an acidic fruit juice (e.g. apple, orange or pineapple) or apple sauce.
  • Always stir the mixture immediately before drinking (the mixture is not clear). Then drink the liquid immediately.
  • To ensure that you have fully taken the medicine, carefully rinse the glass with a ½ glass of water and drink it. Do not use milk or carbonated water. The solid particles contain the medicine - they must not be chewed or crushed.

Patient information

• Do not take the medicine for more than 14 days without asking your doctor.
• If your symptoms do not let up or if your symptoms aggravate, see your doctor.
• The medicine can cover the signs of other diseases. Therefore, speak to your doctor immediately if one of the following signs of other diseases of the preparation applies to you:
  • For no apparent reason you lose much weight and have problems swallowing.
  • You get abdominal pain or digestive disorders.
  • They vomit food or blood.
  • They outshine black stool (blood in the chair).
  • They suffer from severe or continuous diarrhea because Omeprazole is associated with a low increase in infectious diarrhea.
  • They used to have a stomach ulcer or an operation in the gastrointestinal area.
  • You will receive continuous, symptomatic treatment of digestive disorders or heartburn over 4 or more weeks.
  • They have been suffering from digestive disorders or heartburn for 4 or more weeks.
  • You have jaundice or severe liver disease.
  • They are over 55 years old and new or recently changed symptoms occur.
• Patients should not take omeprazole for prevention.

 

• Wateriness and operating machines
  • It is unlikely that the medicine will affect its ability to drive cars or use tools or machines. Side effects such as dizziness and visual disturbances can occur. You shouldn't drive a car or operate machines if they are affected.

Pregnancy

• Find your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine when you are pregnant or try to get pregnant. Your doctor will decide whether you can take the medicine during this time.
• Your doctor will decide whether you can take the medicine if you breastfeed.
