How does the ingredient of the medicine work?

The active ingredient is a body's own substance that is essential for a functioning fat metabolism and fat burning. Field of use

• The preparation contains levocarnitine, an L-amino acid derivative (biogenes amin) that is used to treat carnitine deficiency in patients who suffer from a carnitine deficiency due to dialysis treatment (DCD = Dialysis-Related Carnitine Disorder).

dosage

• Always take the medicine exactly according to the doctor's instructions. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not quite sure
• Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is 1 g of levocarnitine (3.3 ml solution) per day. On days with hemodialysis treatment, the preparation should be taken after dialysis treatment.
• The doctor decides on the duration of the application.

  • There is no sufficient data on the use of levocarnitine during pregnancy. The possible risk for humans is not known. If you are pregnant, you should only apply the medicine if your doctor decides that it is absolutely necessary.

  • Levocarnitine is a natural part of breast milk. However, there are no studies on the use of levocarnitine in breastfeeding women. If you breastfeed, your doctor will decide for you and the possible risk for your child to take into account whether you should use the medicine.
