Field of use

Nasal drops AL 0.1% (package size: 10 ml) are used to swell the nasal mucosa with acute runny nose, when the flow sniff (rhinitis vasomotorica) as well as in allergic runny nose (rhinitis allergica) are used.

Mode of action

The active ingredient xylometazoline contained in nasal drops AL 0.1% (pack size: 10 ml) has vascular -narrowing properties by collecting the wires of the mucous membrane. This reduces the excessive blood flow to the nose, which will keep the mucous membrane over.

1 ml of Nasal drops AL 0.1% (pack size: 10 ml) contains:

• 1.0 mg xylometazolin hydrochloride

Other components of nasal drops AL 0.1% (pack size: 10 ml):

0.2 mg benzalkonium chloride, glycerol, citronic acid monohydrate, sodium citrate 2 H2O, cleaned water.

Contradictions

In the case of known hypersensitivity to one of the above -mentioned ingredients, with dry inflammation of the nasal mucosa with bark formation and in children under 6 years nasal drops AL 0.1% (pack size: 10 ml) should not be used. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, when taking mood-enhancing medicinal products or other potentially blood pressure-enhancing medicines, increased intraocular pressure, heavy cardiovascular diseases, a hormone-producing tumor of the adrenal marrow and for metabolic disorders, nasal drops are 0.1% (pack size: 10: 10 ml) to consult a doctor. Nasal drops AL 0.1% (pack size: 10 ml) should not be used for more than 5 days.

Application recommendation of Nasal drops AL 0.1% (pack size: 10 ml):

Unless otherwise prescribed, adults and children from the age of 6 bring 1-3 times a day 1-2 nasal drops al 0.1% (pack size: 10 ml) into each nose opening. To do this, bend your head a little and drip Nasal drops AL 0.1% (pack size: 10 ml) into the nose.

Taking

- Drip the drops into the nose when the head was flipped back.
- It is advisable to blow your nose thoroughly before using the preparation. The last application on every treatment day should be done cheaply before going to bed.

Patient information

- Longer or frequent use as well as higher doses of xylometazoline can be burned or dryness of the nasal mucosa. This can occur after 5-day treatment and, after continued application, cause permanent mucosal compensation with bark formation.
- Xylometazoline nasal spray should therefore not be used for more than 5 days, unless the medical order.
- A new application should only take place after a break of several days.
- The doctor should always be interviewed about the duration of use in children.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, you should only take medication after consultation with your doctor or pharmacist!
- Since there are only inadequate studies on any effects of xylometazoline on the unborn child, and since side effects in the maternal organism cannot be excluded, xylometazoline should not be used during pregnancy and lactation.
- An application during breastfeeding should be omitted, since it is not known whether the active ingredient will pass into breast milk.

- Permanent use of slimming-down sniffed medicines can lead to chronic swelling and finally to the shrinkage of the nasal mucosa.
- The doctor should always be interviewed about the duration of use in children.
- If used for longer or higher doses, the remedy can be throughout the heart, circulation and nervous system. In these cases, the ability to carry a motor vehicle and to operate machines can be impaired.
- For hygienic reasons and to avoid infections, it is pointed out that the drug may only be used by one and the same person.
