Field of use

• The preparation is a selective serotonin (5-HT₁) receptor agonist and is used as a migraine therapy.
• It is used
  • for acute treatment of the headache phases of migraine attacks with and without aura.

Contradictions

• The medicine must not be taken
  • to prevent migraines;
  • if you are younger than 18 years or older than 65 years;
  • if they are hypersensitive (allergic) compared to naratriptanhydrochloride or one of the other components;
  • if you already had a heart attack or symptoms or indications of reduced blood flow to the heart (ischemic heart disease);
  • if you suffer from cramps of the coronary arteries (Prince Metal Angina) or peripheral vascular diseases or occurred once;
  • if you have a stroke or temporary conditions of less blood flow to the brain (ischemic attacks);
  • if they have high blood pressure or are treated for high blood pressure;
  • if you suffer from kidney or liver dysfunction;
  • if you have circulatory disorders of the legs (cramp -like pain in the legs when walking) or your doctor has informed you that you suffer from peripheral circulatory disorders;
  • if you diagnosed one of the rare migraine forms (hemiplegical, basilar or ophthalmo-plegic migraines);
  • if you use medication to treat migraines at the same time, the ergotamine, ergotamine shares (including methysergide), triptans (e.g. Sumatriptan or naratriptan-containing products) or 5HT₁receptor agonist.
    

dosage

• Please adhere to the application regulations, otherwise the drug cannot work properly.
• The following information applies unless your doctor prescribed the preparation otherwise.
• Always take it exactly according to the instruction.
• Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not quite sure.
• Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose for adults from 18 to 65 years is:
  • Please take a film -coated tablet, accordingly 2.5 mg of naratriptan, as early as possible after the migraine headache begins. The film -coated tablets are also effective when used during the migraine.
  • If the complaints have been improved after taking the first film -coated tablet, but the migraine pain will come back, a second film -coated tablet can be taken, but at the earliest 4 hours after taking the first film tablet.
  • In total, no more than 2 film -coated tablets may be taken within 24 hours.
  • No more than 2 film -coated tablets may be used for a migraine attack.
  • If the first dose does not improve the symptoms, no second dose should be taken for the same attack, as this does not improve the symptoms. In the event of subsequent attacks, the film -coated tablets can be used again.
  • Contact your doctor before further apply this medicine.
  • If the intake does not improve, it could mean that they have no migraines.
  • After taking this medicine, at least 24 hours should have passed before an ergotamine -containing preparation or another 5 -HT₁receptor agonist is administered.
  • Conversely, there should be at least 24 hours between the application of an ergotamine -containing preparation and taking this medicine.

 

• If you have taken a larger amount than you should, inform your doctor.
  • A significant overdose of Naratriptan can have an impact on your health.
  • If you have taken more tablets than intended, contact your doctor immediately.

Taking

• The film -coated tablets are to be taken with water.

Patient information

• Special precautions when taking the preparation
  • The medicine should be used when a migraine headache occurs for the first time.
  • Migraine symptoms can be caused by a temporary expansion of the blood vessels in the head. It is assumed that the preparation reduces this expansion of the blood vessels. This helps that the headache pass and other symptoms of migraines are alleviated, such as: B. a general feeling of illness (nausea or vomiting), as well as sensitivity to light and noise. The security and effectiveness to treat the auras symptoms that may occur before the headache occurs has not yet been proven.
  • Contact your doctor,
    • if the headache lasts for more than 24 hours or occurs more often;
    • if you occur four or more than four migraine attacks per month;
    • if you do not fully recover between the migraine attacks;
    • if you are over 50 years old and this type of headache appears for the first time;
    • if the migraine attack increases or occurs more frequently or the associated signs/symptoms change;
    • if your migraines are accompanied by the following symptoms:
      • one -sided weakness of the body
      • double seeing
      • cumbersome and uncoordinated movements
      • Tinnitus (ear noises)
      • Consciousness disorders
      • long -term movements
      • suddenly occurring rash, in connection with violent headaches;
    • if three or more of the following statements apply to you, which can indicate an increased risk of heart disease:
      • They are male and over 40 years old.
      • They are in menopause (postmenopause).
      • You have strong overweight.
      • You smoke viel (more than 10 cigarettes per day) or use nicotine -containing preparations for smoking cessation.
      • You are diabetic.
      • They have high blood cholesterol.
      • In their closer relationship (parents, brother, sister) there were heart diseases before the age of 60.
  • Children and adults
    • The medicine must not be used if you are younger than 18 years or older than 65 years.
  • Oral contraceptives
    • Women with migraines who also apply oral contraceptives have an increased risk of stroke. If you take oral contraceptives and have recently developed migraine symptoms (in the last 3 months) or have worsened your migraine symptoms, or if you have migraines with aura (migraine attacks that start with visual disorders or sensation changes) Ask advice.

 

• Wateriness and operating machines
  • Migraines or the use of the drug can cause tiredness and other symptoms. These can affect traffic and the ability to operate machines.

Pregnancy

• If you are pregnant to be pregnant or breastfeed, you must speak to your doctor before use.
• There are no experiences of the transition from Naratriptan into breast milk in humans. It is recommended not to breastfeed up to 24 hours after ingestion in order to avoid an active ingredient absorption in the child.
