Field of use

• This preparation is a remedy for treatment in the case of maggots (oxyuriasis). It can be used for children from 1 year, young people and adults.
• The active ingredient pyrvinium is particularly effective against pinworms (oxyuras). The worm -abstinent effect is based on a disturbance of the metabolism of the maggots.

Contradictions

• The medicine must not be taken,
  • if you are allergic to the active ingredient pyrvinium or one of the other components of this medicine
  • with liver damage
  • in inflammatory bowel diseases
  • in the case of kidney dysfunction

dosage

• Always take this medicine exactly as described or exactly after the agreement made with your doctor or pharmacist. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• Dosage
  • As a rule, the preparation is administered as a one -time gift.
  • Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is:
    • Children from 1 year, young people and adults receive 5 ml (corresponding to 50 mg pyrvinium) per 10 kg body weight. The maximum administration in children, adolescents and adults (even with a body weight of more than 80 kg) is 40 ml (corresponding to 400 mg pyrvinium), see dosage table.
  • In the case of insufficient effectiveness, the amount of drug should not be increased, but the treatment should be repeated.

• Application in children and adolescents
  • The dosage in children from 1 year and young people can be found in the dosage table.
• Pregnant woman
  • At the dosage to body weight before pregnancy is to be used to use in pregnancy.
• Patients with restricted kidney function
  • The preparation must not be used in patients with restricted kidney function.
• Patients with limited liver function
  • The preparation must not be used in patients with liver damage.
• Older patients (over 65 years)
  • If there is no restriction of the liver or kidney function, there are no special features to be observed.

 

• Duration of the application
  • Repeat the treatment in the same way after 2 to 4 weeks.

 

• If you have taken a larger amount than you should,
  • can increase the undesirable effects. If there are signs of poisoning after taking it, please see a doctor immediately. He can arrange a gastric flushing or taking medical coal.

 

• If you forgot to take it,
  • you can easily take the missing amount on the same day. In any case, you should take the overall amount of the preparation mentioned.

Taking

• The preparation can be taken both for a meal and on an empty stomach. If you have to take a larger amount of suspension, it is best to distribute the intake to three portions: before, during and after the meal.
• In children, the suspension can be diluted with water or other liquids (fruit juice).
• The suspension must be shaken before use.

Patient information

• Warnings and Precautions
  • Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine.
  • This preparation colored the stool light red. This has no disease value, but only indicates that the active ingredient passed the gastrointestinal tract properly.
  • The active ingredient, pyrvinium, can lead to a discoloration of textiles, for example, by vomiting or by red coloring the stool. This discoloration is not washable.
  • In the event of a worm case, family members or other close contact persons are often affected. Ask your doctor or pharmacist whether treatment should also be carried out with these contact persons. Also pay attention to body hygiene and thorough cleaning of the areas of life (apartment, workplace) and clothing.
  • Children
    • The harmlessness and effectiveness of the drug in children under 1 year have not yet been proven. The preparation is therefore not suitable for this age group.

 

• Wateriness and ability to operate machines
  • There are no special precautions required.
    

Pregnancy

• If you are pregnant or breastfeed, or if you suspect that you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this drug.
• Pregnancy
  • During pregnancy you may only take the medicine if this is mandatory, taking into account the risk for mother and child, e.g. B. because other active ingredients must not be taken.
  • When using during pregnancy, the amount of medicine should be related to body weight before pregnancy.
• Breastfeeding
  • For safety reasons, breastfeeding mothers should pump the milk and pour away during use.
• Women of childbearing age
  • Women of childbearing age should apply a safe contraceptive method during treatment, since the possible risk is not known when using the drug during pregnancy.

- If side effects occur in the gastrointestinal area when using the suspension, the change to active ingredient is recommended.
- No laxative and no special diet are necessary during the intake.
- The medicine colors the stool light red. This has no pathological meaning, but only indicates that the substance has passed the intestine properly.
