Field of use

• The medicine is a mineral preparation and is used for
  • proven magnesium deficiency if it is the cause of muscle activity disorders (neuromuscular disorders, leg cramps).

Contraindications

• The preparation must not be taken,
  • if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to magnesium oxide or any of the other ingredients
  • in severe kidney dysfunction
  • if you suffer from a rare muscle disease (myasthenia gravis)
  • with severe water loss
  • for certain urinary stone diseases (calcium-magnesium-ammonium phosphate stones)

 

dosage

• Always take the medicine exactly as directed. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, this is the usual dose
  • The dosage of the preparation depends on the degree of magnesium deficiency.
  • The average daily dose is 2-4 effervescent tablets (243-486 mg magnesium ions or 10-20 mmol [= 20-40 mval] magnesium ions).
  • The following dosage recommendations apply:
    • Adults and teenagers:
      • 1 effervescent tablet 2 to 4 times daily
    • Children from 6 years:
      • 1 effervescent tablet twice a day
    • In severe magnesium deficiency, higher doses of the drug may be indicated under medical supervision and monitoring of electrolyte balance.

 

• Duration of application
  • The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the underlying magnesium deficiency. If you have a chronic magnesium deficiency, you should take it for at least 4 weeks. Long-term high-dose magnesium intake should be monitored by a doctor.

 

• If you have taken more than you should
  • If an overdose causes diarrhea or tiredness, do not take another effervescent tablet that day, but only continue taking it the next day according to the dosage instructions.

 

• If you forget to take it
  • Do not take a double dose if you forget to take the previous dose.
  • If you have any further questions about using the medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

 

Intake

• The effervescent tablets should be taken before meals. Please dissolve 1 effervescent tablet in a glass of water and drink the entire glass.

Patient information

• Particular caution is required when taking,
  • if your kidney function is impaired. In this case, you may only take the medicine under medical supervision.
  • if you are also taking antacids (medicines to reduce stomach acid) or laxatives that contain magnesium salts (especially if your kidney function is impaired).
  • if you are known to have a tendency to form infected kidney stones during a urinary tract infection.
  • in the case of disturbances in the conduction of the heart that lead to a slow heartbeat (higher degree AV block).
  • if the situation of the mineral balance, such as B. excess magnesium (hypermagnesemia) or excess potassium (hyperkalemia), a contraindication results.

 

• Ability to drive and use machines
  • There are no special precautions required.
