Field of use

The medicine becomes anautical
- for the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea for adults and children from the age of 12, unless caused therapy is available. Treatment with Loperamide that goes beyond 2 days may only be carried out under medical prescription and monitoring.

Contradictions

The medicine must not be taken
- if you are hypersensitive (allergic) against Loperamide hydrochloride
- of children under the age of 12
- in the case of conditions in which the intestinal activity is to be slowed down, e.g. B. driven body, constipation and intestinal closure
- in the event of diarrhea, which are accompanied by fever and/or bloody stool
- in the event of diarrhea that occur during or after taking antibiotics (pseudomembranous [Antibiotika-assoziierte] colitis)
- in chronic diarrhea (these diseases may only be treated with Loperamide in accordance with the medical prescription.)
- in the event of an acute thrust of ulcerative colitis (ulcerous colon infection)

dosage

Always take the medicine exactly according to the instruction. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not quite sure.
Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is

Adult
At the beginning of the treatment of acute diarrhea 2 hard capsules (corresponding to 4 mg loperamide hydrochloride), then 1 hard capsule (corresponding to 2 mg loperamide hydrochloride) after each unshaped stool.
A daily dose of 6 hard capsules (corresponding to 12 mg loperamide hydrochloride) must not be exceeded.
Children over 12 years
At the beginning of the treatment of acute diarrhea and after each unshaped chair 1 hard capsule (corresponding to 2 mg loperamide hydrochloride).
A daily dose of 4 hard capsules (corresponding to 8 mg loperamide hydrochloride) must not be exceeded.
The medicine is not suitable for children under the age of 12 due to the high active ingredient content. According to medical prescription, other forms of dosage are available for this. The duration of the application is a maximum of 2 days.
If the diarrhea continues to exist after 2 days of treatment, the medicine must be discontinued and a doctor must be consulted.
Notice:
Treatment that goes beyond 2 days may only be carried out under medical prescription and monitoring.
Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect
of the Arneim agent is too strong or too weak
The signs of overdose are constipation, intestinal obstruction and symptoms of the central nervous system (neurotoxicity) such as cramps, lack of participation, sleepiness, increased and involuntary muscle movements (choreoathetosis), disturbance of the coordination of movement sequences or reduction in breathing.
If you have taken a larger amount than you should, you must definitely see a doctor. If overdose symptoms occur, this will initiate corresponding countermeasures.
The treatment depends on the overdose symptoms and the clinical picture.

Taking

The hard capsules should be taken with a little liquid (e.g. 1 glass of water).

Patient information

In the following it is described when you can only use the medicine under certain conditions and only with special caution. Please ask your doctor.
This also applies if this information has been on your own.
The medicine may only be after Ärztlicregulation can be applied if a liver disease exists or has been through because serious liver diseases can be dismantled with the reduction of Loperamide.
In the event of diarrhea, large fluid and salt loss can occur. Therefore, the most important treatment measure in the event of diarrhea must be paid to replacement of liquid and electrolytes. This applies in particular to children.
The recommended dosage and the duration of 2 days must not be exceeded because severe constipation can occur.
If the diarrhea continues to exist after 2 days of treatment, the medicine must be discontinued and a doctor has been consulted. Children under 2 years of age must not be treated with medicinal products containing Loperamide.
Children between the ages of 2 and 12 may only be treated with medicinal medicines contained in the medical prescription. Due to the high active ingredient content, the drug is not suitable for this age group. According to medical prescription, other forms of dosage are available for this.
You can no longer use the medicine after specified date of expiry.

Pregnancy

Since there is no experience with pregnant women and the active ingredient goes into breast milk, an application during pregnancy and lactation should not be carried out.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking all drugs.

- The recommended dosage and the duration of 2 days must not be exceeded because severe constipation can occur. - A treatment with Loperamide that goes beyond 2 days may only be carried out under medical prescription and course.
