Treat nail fungus with Loceryl® nail polish against nail fungus
Loceryl® nail polish is a medicine against nail fungus1 with the active ingredient amorolfine. It offers those affected an effective, simple and cosmetically aesthetic therapy to treat nail fungus. Thanks to its effective long-term effect, Loceryl® nail polish only needs to be applied once a week. It penetrates deep into the nail just a few hours after the first application to fight infectious fungal cells. In contrast to water-soluble products that are used daily, Loceryl® only has to be applied once a week. And best of all: Loceryl® nail polish also works under cosmetic nail polish2 – for more attractive nails.
Benefits of Loceryl nail polish against nail fungus
• Only 1x per week: With Loceryl® against nail fungus, no tiresome daily brushing is necessary! The nail polish only needs to be applied once a week.
• Deep action: The active ingredient penetrates deep into the nail and fights the fungus in and under the nail plate.
• Broad spectrum of activity: Combats all relevant nail fungus pathogens.
• Cost effective: A 2.5ml bottle of Loceryl® Nail Polish lasts approximately 10 months. This means that Loceryl® is cheaper over the course of therapy than water-soluble products that are used daily.
• Paintable: Do you feel more comfortable with colored nails? No problem! Because Loceryl® also works under cosmetic nail polish.2 Your nails are protected from unpleasant looks, while Loceryl® nail polish works effectively.
• No detachment of the nail: With a nail fungus treatment with Loceryl® the nail does not detach but grows back healthy.
• Waterproof: No lifestyle restrictions necessary. Bathing, swimming and showering are still possible without any problems.
• Easy to use: Easy and convenient to use thanks to DIREKT-applicator.
How does Loceryl® Nail Polish work?
Loceryl® contains the active ingredient amorolfine. This quickly penetrates the nail and penetrates deep into the nail bed. As a result, the antifungal (fungus-killing) effect lasts particularly long and the nail only needs to be treated once a week (and not daily). Amorolfine stops the fungi from growing and kills them. The active ingredient is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent and covers all relevant nail fungus pathogens. Nail fungus is effectively combated. Compared to other treatment methods, the nail is not detached with Loceryl® nail polish, but can grow out healthy.
Recommendation for use: Treat nail fungus properly
Nail fungus does not heal on its own. Left untreated, the fungus can spread to other nails or areas of skin, as well as infect other people. It is therefore particularly important to treat it early.
Start your very first Loceryl®treatment by first filing down the diseased nail parts with a disposable nail file. Infected nail material is removed before treatment. Then clean thoroughly and apply Loceryl® nail polish with the DIREKT-applicator. From now on, simply continue using the medical nail polish once a week until the nail has grown out completely healthy again.
Tip: The affected nail only needs to be filed off before the first application. This is no longer necessary for all other applications. However, you can file if necessary, for example if the nail plate has thickened due to nail fungus.
Can you support the treatment of nail fungus?
Yes, with small everyday measures you can accelerate the healing success of Loceryl® nail polish against nail fungus and prevent recurrence:
• In the case of a fungal infection, towels, washcloths and socks should be washed as often as possible and at a temperature of at least 60 degrees.
• You should never walk barefoot in public wet areas.
• Also ensure good blood circulation in the feet, e.g. through foot exercises.
• Wash your feet every day and be sure to dry them thoroughly afterwards, including between the toes.
• Since fungi can penetrate the skin particularly well via cracked skin, you should also always apply lotion and care for your feet.
What does nail fungus actually look like?
Nail fungus is most easily recognized by discoloration and changes in the nail. White, yellow, or grey-brown spots form on the nail, often oblong or semi-circular in shape. Later, the nail can thicken, become brittle or crumbly, and as the disease progresses, it can even completely detach from the nail bed. The fungal disease usually begins at the edge of the nail and progresses towards the nail root. The fungi feed on the keratin in the nails and skin. Therefore, the nail bed is often also affected. Toenail fungus is much more common than toenail fungus on the hand. The big toes and fifth toenail are most commonly affected. The risk of infection increases from the age of 40, and almost every second person over the age of 60 suffers from nail fungus. Men are affected more frequently than women.
How does nail fungus get infected?
Healthy nails usually have their own protective barrier against fungal pathogens. But even the smallest injuries can lead to fungi nesting in the nail area and multiplying there. The so-called filamentous fungus is the main cause of nail fungus with over 80%. Skin and nail fungi are contagious diseases and are transmitted both through contact with infected people and through touching infected objects. There is a particular risk of infection in changing rooms, wet areas of sports facilities, fitness studios, swimming pools and hotels. Everywhere you can prevent infection by not walking barefoot. Circulatory disorders and a weakened immune system can also increase the risk of infection.
Nail fungus and athlete's foot like to appear together
Nail fungus is often accompanied by athlete's foot, since both diseases have the same causative agents. And just like nail fungus can spread to the skin of the feet, athlete's foot can spread to the nails (ping-pong effect). If symptoms of athlete's foot also occur, it can make sense to supplement nail fungus therapy with treatment of the skin on the feet.
Tip: For example, the "Loceryl® Cream" can be used to treat athlete's foot and skin fungus.
1) Without matrix attack
2) Apply cosmetic nail polish according to Loceryl® nail polish (let dry for 10 min). Before applying Loceryl® nail polish again, the cosmetic nail polish should be carefully removed. Package leaflet: September 2019

Revenue
- Please note the following information when using:
- Before the 1st application:
- Be sure to file off the diseased parts of the nail surfaces as much as possible. For all other applications, file as required (e.g. if the nails have thickened).
- Before each further application:
- 1. In any case, use an alcohol swab to clean the nail surface. This will also remove any paint residue.
- 2. Please use one of the reusable spatulas provided to remove the nail polish. Dip the spatula anew for each nail to be treated and do not wipe it off the bottle neck (danger of drying out).
- 3. Use the spatula to apply the nail polish evenly to the whole area of the diseased nail.
- 4. Close the vial tightly immediately after each use to prevent the solution from drying out.
- 5. Allow the treated nails to dry for 10 minutes.
- 6. To reuse, clean the spatula after use with an alcohol swab or with a cotton ball soaked in nail polish remover.
- What else needs to be considered when treating nail fungus?
- A nail file used for the treatment must no longer be used for the care of healthy nails, otherwise healthy nails can be infected with nail fungus. Use separate disposable files to treat the diseased nails.
- The layer of lacquer on the fingernails can be partially dissolved or removed when handling organic solvents (nitro thinner, turpentine substitute, etc.). Therefore, when working with such means to protect the paint layer, you must wear impermeable gloves.
Patient notes
- Particular caution in use is required.
- Nail files that are used on diseased nails should not be used on healthy nails.
- There is no experience in infants, children and adolescents.
- Avoid any contact with eyes, ears and mucous membranes.
- No artificial nails should be used during the application. Patients working with organic solvents (thinners, mineral spirits, etc.) must wear impervious gloves to protect the nail polish layer on the fingernails. Otherwise the nail polish will be peeled off.
- Ability to drive and use machines
- This preparation has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
Pregnancy
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
- There is only limited experience with the use of nail polish during pregnancy and breast-feeding.
- This preparation should not be used during pregnancy and lactation unless clearly necessary.
