Mode of action
How does the ingredient of the medicine work? The mint oil comes from the Japanese peppermint plant and works as a natural mixture. About the plant itself:
- Appearance: biennial, upright herb whose leaves are arranged in a basal rosette in the first year; small pink flowers in loose umbels.
- Occurrence: Cultivated mainly in Brazil, Japan and India
- Main ingredients: Menthol, Menthone, Limonene
Japanese mint oil is similar to European peppermint oil, but contains significantly more menthol. It relieves mild cramps in the gastrointestinal area, has an anti-flatulent effect and stimulates the flow of bile. It inhibits the growth of germs. By stimulating cold receptors on the skin, menthol blocks pain receptors and cools swollen mucous membranes. When mint oil is inhaled, it has a cough suppressant effect and liquefies stuck mucus.
