Field of use

Ketoconazole Blade 20 Mg/g Shampoo (Pack Size: 120 ml) is a medicated shampoo used to prevent and treat scalp infections caused by the fungus Pityrosporum such as
- Seborrheic dermatitis – greasy, scaly inflammation of the scalp and other skin areas
- dandruff (pityriasis capitis)

If the scalp is flaky and itchy for a long time, a fungal infection is often the cause. If this is the basis, the use of ketoconazole has proven itself. The active ingredient contained in KETOconazol Klinge® inhibits the spread of the fungal infection and thus fights the cause of dandruff. The shampoo also contains the caring additive dexpanthenol. KETOconazol Klinge® can also be used after acute therapy as a preventive measure.

The active substance is ketoconazole.
1 g shampoo contains 20 mg ketoconazole, 1 ml shampoo contains 20.84 mg ketoconazole.

The other ingredients are: Sodium dodecyl sulfate paste 70% 3-dodecyloxycarbonyl-2/3-sulfopropanoic acid disodium salt solution 40% sodium chloride citric acid monohydrate benzyl alcohol edetic acid tetrasodium salt 2H20 1,1'-methylenebis[3-(3-hydroxymethyl-2,5- dioxoimidazolidin-4-yl)harnstoff] (imidurea) Poly[dimethyl(prop-2-en-1-yl)prop-2-en-1-aminiumchlorid-co-prop-2-enamid] Dexpanthenol alpha-dodecyl-omega-hydroxypoly(oxyethylene)-2 sodium hydroxide Erythrosine (E127) Purified water

Contraindications

• The drug must not be used,
  • if you are allergic to ketoconazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

dosage

Directions for use of Ketoconazole Blade 20 mg/g Shampoo (Pack size: 120 ml):

For use in adults, including the elderly, and adolescents:
Thoroughly wet hair and scalp with water. Use enough shampoo (about 5ml) to wash hair and scalp with enough lather. Gently massage the shampoo all over the scalp and leave on for 3 - 5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

Your regular shampoo can be used between uses of KETOconazol Blade® 20 mg/g Shampoo if needed.

Frequency of use:
KETOconazol Klinge® 20 mg/g shampoo should be used twice a week over a period of 2 - 4 weeks.

Prophylaxis:
Use once every 1-2 weeks to prevent symptoms from reoccurring.

• This shampoo is for skin use only.
• Not for consumption! Don't swallow!
• Thoroughly wet hair and scalp with water.
• Gently massage the shampoo all over the scalp and leave on for 3 - 5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
• Your regular shampoo can be used between uses of this shampoo if needed.

Patient notes

• Warnings and Precautions
  • Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the shampoo.
  • Ketoconazole can irritate the mucous membranes of the eyes, therefore contact with the eyes should be avoided. If the shampoo does get into your eyes, rinse your eyes thoroughly with clear, cold water.
  • If you have used so-called glucocorticoids such as betamethasone or hydrocortisone over a long period of time, you should not stop treatment with these medicines immediately when you start using this shampoo, but gradually reduce the frequency of use over 2 to 3 weeks.
  • This will help prevent an initial worsening of the condition during treatment with this shampoo. If you have any further questions about stopping corticosteroid treatment, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

• Ability to drive and use machines
  • The drug has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

• If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking/using this medicine.
• In general, the preparation can be used during pregnancy and lactation.
