Instructions for use

The total dose should not be exceeded without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.

How should it be used?
Apply a thin layer of the medicine to the affected area(s) of skin. Then massage the medicine in gently. Discuss with your doctor whether the medicine should be applied thickly and the treated area(s) covered with a bandage.
Wash your hands thoroughly after use.

Duration of use?
Treatment can be continued until symptoms subside. If symptoms worsen, persist, or recur regularly, you should consult your doctor.

Overdose?
An overdose may cause skin irritation. If in doubt, consult your doctor.

In general, pay careful attention to the dosage, especially for infants, small children, and the elderly. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist about any side effects or precautions.

How does the active ingredient of the medicine work?

The active ingredient, ammonium bitumen sulfonate, is a sulfonated shale oil. When applied to the skin, ammonium bitumen sulfonate has a weak antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect.

- Lanolin alcohols (e.g., wool wax, lanolin) can cause skin irritation (e.g., contact dermatitis).
- There may be interactions with certain medications. Therefore, you should always inform your doctor or pharmacist about any other medication you are already taking before starting treatment with a new medication. This also applies to medications you buy yourself, use only occasionally, or have used for some time.

ICHTHOLAN^® 10% Ointment

Active ingredient: Ammonium bituminosulfonate.

Indications:
ICHTHOLAN^® 10%, ointment is used to treat superficial inflammatory skin conditions. ICHTHOLAN^® 20%, ointment is used to treat boils and superficial abscesses. ICHTHOLAN^® 50%, ointment is used to treat boils and abscesses and for supportive treatment of gonarthrosis, bruises, and sprains. Ointments contain lanolin and butylhydroxytoluene.

ICHTHOLAN^® 50% - this highly concentrated ointment is used when pus has accumulated deep in the skin, such as in boils and abscesses.

The general rule is: don't use a sledgehammer to crack a nut! As with any medicine, use as much active ingredient as necessary, but as little as possible.
