Application areas:
Folverlan® 0.4 mg: prevention of neural tube defects, especially the spina bifida ("open back"); Prevention and treatment of folic acid deficits that cannot be remedied dietetically.
Note: Folverlan® 0.4 mg contain lactose (40 mg per tbl.).

Field of use
- The medicine is a means of preventing anemia and preventing neural tube defects in newborns
- The medicine is used for:
- Prevention of folic acid deficits if sufficient folic acid intake with food is not possible.
- Prevention of neural tube defects in newborns by preventing the treatment of women before occurring and during pregnancy. The use of folic acid is also indicated in full diet.

Contradictions
- The medicine must not be taken,
- if they are hypersensitive to folic acid or one of the other components of the medicine.
- if you suffer from a megaloblastary anemia as a result of a vitamin B12 deficiency, without a vitamin B12 treatment.
- if you suffer from a megaloblastary anemia of unclear cause as long as a vitamin B12 deficiency is not excluded.
dosage
- Always take the medicine exactly according to the doctor's instructions. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not quite sure.
- Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is
- Prevention of folic acid deficiency: a tablet daily (corresponding to 0.4 mg folic acid). On medical advice, the dose on two tablets can be increased daily (corresponding to 0.8 mg folic acid).
- Prevention of neural tube defects in newborns: It is recommended that pregnant women and women with desire to have children take a tablet daily (corresponding to 0.4 mg folic acid). On medical advice, this dose on two tablets can be increased daily (corresponding to 0.8 mg folic acid).
- Duration of the application:
- Prevention of folic acid deficiency: The treating doctor decides on the duration of the application.

- With high doses (over 15 mg per day and longer than four weeks), gastrointestinal disorders, sleep disorders, excitement and depression can occur. In these cases you should contact your doctor.
- If you forgot to take the medicine:
- Do not take the double dose if you have forgotten the prior intake, but continue taking the tablets normally.
- If you stop taking the medicine:
