Field of use
Fluorets 0.5 mg (pack size: 300 pc) is a medicine for caries prevention with the active ingredient sodium fluoride.

Contradictions
The medicine must not be used if there is a hypersensitivity (allergy) against sodium fluoride or one of the other components if it is sufficiently fluoride by z. B. supply fluoridated food salt, drinking, mineral or table water.
dosage
- Always apply the medicine exactly according to the instruction. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not quite sure.
- The dosage depends on the age of your child and should be determined taking into account the other fluoride recording.
- In order to ensure that only an oral form of fluoride intake is used, the pediatrician or the dentist should use the use of fluoridated dining salt, fluoride -containing tablets (including the daily dose), fluoride containing fluoride, fluoride -rich mineral water and the fluoride content of the drinking water during dosage recommendation consider.
- The following dosing scheme indicates guidelines for a supplementary fluoride intake. If the fluoride concentration in drinking water/mineral water is more than 0.7 mg/l, an additional administration of fluoride tablets is not required.
- In the Federal Republic of Germany, the fluoride content of the drinking water - apart from exceptions - is below 0.3 mg/l. You can find out the fluoride content through the responsible waterworks.

- Duration of the application
- The application should begin as early as possible and be carried out consistently at least during the first 12 years of life. A continuation of prophylaxis until adulthood is recommended.
- If you have used a larger amount than you should
- In the event of a slight overdose, the preparation can be discontinued for a few days depending on the dose and the dose taken.
- Acute overdose
- When taking larger amounts of fluoride, symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea can occur. For fluoride quantities up to 100 mg or 5 mg/kg body weight, the administration of calcium (lots of milk, calcium tablets) is recommended. The dentist or doctor decides on further treatment measures.
- Acute overdose must be avoided (risk of poisoning).
- Chronic overdose
- The preparation must be discontinued in the event of long -term overdose. There is the possibility of formation of casting stain on the permanent teeth, and with very significant, long -term overdose, disorders of the bone structure can develop. The doctor decides on further treatment measures depending on the clinical picture.
- If you have forgotten the application
- If the intake has been forgotten, it is advisable to continue taking the medicine as usual. A dose increase is not necessary.
- If you cancel the application
- When the intake is completed, caries protection is gradually lost, with long -term interruption it is reduced.
- If you have any further questions about the application of the drug, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Taking
- The lollipops should be sucked slowly, since part of the effect comes about due to the locally higher fluoride concentrations in the mouth. Infants and toddlers can be administered the crushed sucking tablet on a spoon with food, water or tea.
- The best time of application is in the evening after brushing your teeth, since the high fluoride concentrations on the teeth are preserved for a particularly long time.
Patient information
- Particular caution when taking the drug is required at
- if your child has a severe chronic disease affecting growth. In this case, you should consult the treating doctor whether caries prevention with fluoride is suitable for your child.
- Children who receive a balance sheet due to a congenital metabolic disorder does not require any administration of fluoride tablets.
- If you use fluoridated food salt when preparing your child's food, please do without further fluoride gifts.
- Do not increase the dosage of the preparation beyond the recommended dose, since melting spots on the permanent teeth and with very significant, long -term overdose disorders of the bone structure can develop (see "Chronic overdose" dosage ").
- The dentist or the doctor should be questioned due to an additional application of fluoride -containing gel or varnishes for local fluoridation.

- Pregnancy
- The medicine can be taken during pregnancy, but is likely to be without benefit for the development of the child's teeth.
- Breastfeeding
- The active ingredient of the preparation is only an extremely small part into breast milk.
- Therefore, fluoride should be given to the baby to prevent caries directly.
Hints
Miscellaneous
- The simultaneous intake of calcium and magnesium, as is carried out during a diet with milk and dairy products, does not significantly reduce fluoride absorption.
- In the first two years of life, combined rachitis and caries prophylaxis can be carried out with a vitamin D/sodium fluoride-containing combination preparation. In this case, the application of the drug should be omitted.
- With constant overdose of fluoride in the first years of life, tooth fluorosis with melting defects on the permanent bite and with very significant, long -term overdose can develop disorders of bone structure.
