Field of use

• The preparation is a medicine for liquefaction, tough mucus in the airways.
• Application areas
  • For the mucus solution and for facilitated coughing in the case of respiratory diseases with a tough mucus.

Contradictions

• The medicine must not be taken
  • in the case of known hypersensitivity to acetylcysteine, the active ingredient of the preparation or one of the other components.
• The drug must not be used in children under 14 years due to the high active ingredient content. Medicines are available for this in a suitable dosage form.

dosage

• Always take the medicine exactly according to the instruction. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not quite sure.
• The following information applies unless your doctor prescribed the medicine. Please adhere to the application regulations, otherwise the medicine cannot work properly!
• Young people aged 14 and over and adults:
  • 1 effervescent tablet 1 time each day
• Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the drug is too strong or too weak.

 

• Total duration of the application
  • If the clinical picture worsens or no improvement occurs after 4 - 5 days, you should see a doctor.

 

• If you have taken a larger amount than you should
  • In the event of overdose, irritation symptoms in the gastrointestinal area (e.g. abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea) can occur.
  • Serious side effects or symptoms have so far not been observed even after massive overdose of acetylcysteine tablets. If you suspect an overdose with the medicine, please notify your doctor.

 

• If you have forgotten the intake
  • Once you have forgotten to take the medicine or have taken too little, please continue taking the medicine, as described in the dosage instructions.

 

• If you cancel the intake
  • Please do not break the treatment with the medicine without consulting your doctor. Your illness might worsen by this.

Taking

• Take the medicine after meals.
• Please dissolve the medicine in a glass of drinking water and drink the contents of the glass completely.
• Notice:
  • A light smell of hydrogen sulfide that occurs when the preparation is stored is based on the normal aging process of the preparation. As long as the expiry date is not exceeded, it is harmless and with regard to the effectiveness and tolerability of the preparation without concern.

Patient information

• Particular caution when taking the drug is required
  • It is very rare about the occurrence of severe skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome and Lyell syndrome in a temporal connection with the application of acetylcystein was reported. When the skin and mucous membrane changes come back, medical advice should therefore be obtained immediately and the use of acetylcysteine should be ended.
  • Caution is advised if you have or have a stomach or intestinal ulcer in the past.
  • Caution is advised in patients with histamine intolerance. Long -term therapy should be avoided in these patients, since the medicine influences the histamine metabolism and can lead to intolerance symptoms (e.g. headache, fluid snuff, itching).
  • The application of the drug, in particular at the beginning of treatment, can lead to liquefaction and thus an increase in volume of the bronchial secretion. If you are unable to cough this off, your doctor will carry out suitable measures for you.

 

• Wateriness and operating machines
  • There are no special features to consider.

Pregnancy

• Pregnancy
  • Since there is no sufficient experience with the use of acetylcysteine for pregnant women, you should only apply the medicine during pregnancy if your doctor considers this to be absolutely necessary
• Breastfeeding
  • There is no information on the excretion of acetylcysteine into breast milk.
  • Therefore, you should only apply the medicine during breastfeeding if your doctor considers this to be absolutely necessary.
