Contradictions

• The medicine must not be taken,
  • if they are hypersensitive (allergic) against the active ingredient or one of the other components of the drug.
  • if you have a narrowing of the esophagus.
  • if you suffer from hereditary iron storage disease (hemochromatosis).
  • if you suffer from iron overload (chronic hemolysen, thalassemia, other hemoglobinopathies).
  • if you suffer from iron recycling disorders (e.g. sideroachrestic anemia, lead anemia).
  • if you receive repeated or chronic blood transfusions.
  • of children under the age of 6 (with a body weight of less than 20 kg).

dosage

• Always take the medicine exactly according to the instruction in this package insert. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not quite sure.
• Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is
  • As a rule, adults and children from 6 years (with at least 20 kg body weight) should take 1 to 2 dragées 3 times a day at the beginning of treatment, then 1 to 2 times a day 1 dragées.
• Older patients
  • There is no clinical data that a dose adjustment is required in older patients.
• Patients with kidney or liver dysfunction
  • There is no clinical data that requires dose adjustment in patients with kidney or liver dysfunction.
• Children and adolescents
  • The drug must not be used in children under the age of 6 (with a body weight of less than 20 kg).

 

• Duration of the application
  • The doctor determines the duration of the application.
  • Filling the body iron memory - depending on the severity of the anemia and the individual circumstances - can take between 3 to 6 months.
  • Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect is too strong or too weak.

 

• If you have taken a larger amount than you should
  • If you have taken the medicine in too large quantities, you should inform a doctor immediately.
  • In the case of intended or accidental overdose, some symptoms that are listed under the side effects come to the fore. If there is an overdose with clinical signs of poisoning, contact a doctor immediately.
  • Overdosing can cause poisoning, especially in children.

 

• If you have forgotten the intake
  • Do not take the double dose if you have forgotten the prior intake.
  • Should you accidentally- or have forgotten several times, the overall therapy duration is extended.
• If you cancel the intake
  • If you stop taking it, the success of therapy is at risk.

 

• If you have any further questions about the application of the drug, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Taking

• Please take the medicine in the unscrewed one with enough water (preferably a glass).
• The intake should be done soberly in the morning (approx. 1 hour before breakfast) or at a sufficient distance of about 2 hours before or after a meal.

Patient information

• Particular caution when taking it is required,
  • if you suffer from existing diseases of the digestive tract such as chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, intestinal narrowing, protrusions of the intestine (diverticula), gastric mucosal inflammation (gastritis), stomach and intestinal ulcers.
  • if you suffer from chronic kidney disease and need erythropoetin, iron should be administered intravenously, since orally administered iron is poorly absorbed in uremic individuals.
  • in older people with initially unexplainable iron deficiency or anemia. Here you have to search carefully according to the cause of the iron deficiency or the source of the bleeding.
  • for children because overdose can lead to poisoning.
• Notice
  • Discoloration of the teeth can occur during treatment. According to the scientific literature, these tooth discoloration can return spontaneously after stopping the drug or must be removed by using a sanding toothpaste or by professional tooth cleaning.

 

• Wateriness and operating machines
  • There are no special precautions required.

• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should only take the medicine by ordering your doctor.
