The plant is primarily native to North and East Asia and can reach heights of growth of 2 to 7 meters. Its dried leaves are used to infuse tea (Ci-wu-jia tea) and its bark and root are used as medicinal drugs. The most important ingredient in Siberian ginseng is the eleutheroside, which is a multi-component mixture and is formed from various substances, including coumarins, β-carotene, vanillin and vitamin E. The taiga root is traditionally used as a tonic and as an adaptogenic medicinal plant. It can contribute to lowering blood pressure and normal blood circulation in connection with memory performance, strengthen the immune system and ensure mental and physical performance. Some studies have found an increase in fat oxidation during exercise using taiga root1,2. In other scientific studies, the plant was also able to help increase physical performance1,3.
