- Your doctor adapts the dosage to the amount of phosphate, which you absorb through the food and which is removed via the dialysis.
- Regular monitoring of phosphate and calcium concentration in the blood is required to determine the effectiveness of the treatment and avoid increased calcium concentration in the blood (hypercalcemia). Monitoring should take place at least once a month.
- If medicinal products contain at the same time, there is an increased risk of increased calcium concentration in the blood (hypercalcemia). The simultaneous use of calcium and vitamin D-containing preparations must therefore be carried out under medical supervision.
