Field of use

• The drug are chewing tablets that contain calcium and vitamin D₃ - two important substances for bone structure.
• The medicine is taken:
  • to prevent and treat a calcium and vitamin D deficiency in older people
  • as a supplement to the support of specific osteoporos therapy for patients in whom there is a risk of vitamin D and calcium deficiency.

Contradictions

• The medicine must not be taken,
  • if you are hypersensitive to calcium, vitamin D or one of the other components
  • if you have too high calcium content in the blood or urine
  • if you have calcium -containing kidney stones
  • when the function of your kidneys is disturbed
  • if the vitamin D content of your blood is too high.

dosage

• Always take the medicine exactly according to the instruction. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not quite sure.
• The usual dose is one tablet twice a day.

 

• If you have taken a larger amount than you should
  • If you may have taken a larger amount of the drug than you should, please speak to your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
  • The symptoms of hypercalcemia (increased calcium content of blood) include appetite, nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, muscle weakness, drowsiness and confusion, extreme thirst, excessive or unusually strong urine production and/or frequent urination and bone pain.

 

• If you have forgotten the intake
  • Do not take the double dose if you have forgotten the prior intake.

Taking

• The tablets can be chewed or sucked.

Patient information

• Particular caution when taking the drug is required,
  • if you have long -term treatment
  • with impaired kidney function or a strong tendency to kidney stone formation
  • if you suffer from sarcoidosis (a disease of the immune system that can lead to an increased vitamin D level in the body)
  • in the event of immobilization with osteoporosis (osteoporosis caused by longer immobilization)
  • when taking other vitamin D or calcium preparations. Additional doses calcium and vitamin D can lead to a significant increase in calcium levels in the blood and cause harmful side effects. Such preparations may only be taken together under strict medical supervision
  • if you suffer from phenylketonuria.
  • It lies at the discretion of your Arzes, whether a calcium and/ or vitamin D₃preparation can be used under these circumstances.
  • If you apply the medicine without a medical prescription, you should always consult your doctor with a time of use of more than a month.
  • If you use the drug for osteoporosis, it is recommended to have the calcium level in the blood (calcium) determined before the start of treatment.
  • In the event of long -term treatment, the calcium content of the blood must be checked regularly.
  • Depending on the result, your doctor may decide to reduce the dose or cancel the treatment.
  • The medicine is not intended for use in children and adolescents.

 

• Wateriness and operating machines
  • No studies on the effects on the traffic and operating machines were carried out. However, a disadvantageous effect is unlikely.

Pregnancy

• Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking all drugs.
  • During pregnancy, the daily intake should not exceed 1500 mg calcium and 600 i.E. vitamin D, since overdosing can affect the unborn child. If you have a calcium and vitamin D deficiency,
    you can also use the medicine during pregnancy.
  • If you breastfeed, you can also use the medicine. However, if your child receives additional gifts of vitamin D, it must be taken into account that the active ingredients contained in calcilac pass into breast milk.
