How does the active ingredient of the medicine work?The ingredients come from the thyme plant and act as a natural mixture. About the plant itself:
- Appearance: Aromatic fragrant dwarf shrub with delicate light purple flowers
- Occurrence: Originally from the Mediterranean region, now cultivated worldwide
- Main ingredients: Tannins, flavonoids, and, in the essential oil, thymol and carvacrol
- Plant parts and preparations used: Oil and syrup from the whole plant, extracts from leaves and herb
In addition to disinfectant properties, thyme also has expectorant properties. The latter are probably based on the stimulation of the fine hairs of the bronchi to move faster. In addition, lung cells are stimulated to secrete more thin secretions.
Thyme relieves spasms in both the bronchi and the digestive tract.

Aspecton Cough Drops (pack size: 100 ml) are particularly highly concentrated and can therefore improve the removal of trapped mucus from the respiratory tract. They are very well tolerated and therefore suitable as a medicine for the whole family.

Active ingredients / Ingredients
Ingredients of Aspecton Cough Drops (Pack size: 100 ml):
10 ml of liquid (1 ml corresponds to 27 drops) contains:
4.23 g of thick thyme herb extract (1.7-2.5:1).
Extracting agent: Ammonia solution 10% (w/w), Glycerol 85% (w/w), Ethanol 90% (v/v), Water (1:20:70:109).
The other ingredients are:
Glycerol 85%, Propylene glycol, Eucalyptus oil, Levomenthol.
Note: Contains no alcohol (ethanol).
Contraindications
If you are hypersensitive to any of the above ingredients, this product should not be used.
Dosage
Recommended use of Aspecton Cough Drops (Pack size: 100 ml):
Aspecton Cough Drops (Pack size: 100 ml) can be taken undiluted or in water. They can be taken with or without food.
Adults and adolescents 12 years and older: 31 to a maximum of 61 drops 3-4 times daily
Children 11 to 12 years: 15 drops 3 times daily
Children 5 to 10 years: 10 drops 3-4 times daily
Children 2 to 4 years: 10 drops 2 times daily

Drops for oral use.
Patient Information
If symptoms persist for more than 1 week, or if shortness of breath, fever, or purulent or bloody sputum occur, consult a doctor.
Pregnancy
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using any medication. This medicine should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to insufficient research.
Information
This medicine contains 5.72 g of propylene glycol per 10 ml.
Do not take this medicine if you have liver or kidney disease unless recommended by your doctor. Your doctor may perform additional tests while you are taking this medicine.
Aspecton Cough Drops (pack size: 100 ml) have no added sugar and contain less than 0.01 BE sugar per 10 ml. They are alcohol-free (ethanol) and therefore also suitable for patients who must avoid alcohol (ethanol).
Stable for 6 months after opening.
