Field of use

Contradictions

• The medicine must not be taken
  • if you are hypersensitive (allergic) against tryptophan or one of the other components of the preparation.
  • if you suffer from severe liver dysfunction.
  • if you suffer from a disturbance of brain function due to chronic liver disease (hepatic encephalopathy).
  • if you suffer from severe kidney diseases and kidney function disorders.
  • if you suffer from a small intestine carcinoid (certain tumor disease) with heart damage (hedinger syndrome).
  • if they are treated with certain medicines against depression (monoaminoxidase inhibitors, serotonin reuptake inhibitors) due to a mental illness or if they take the appetite suppressant dexen fluramine.

dosage

• Always take the medicine exactly according to the doctor's instruction. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not quite sure.
• Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is
  • Adults take 2 film -coated tablets every day (corresponding to 1 g tryptophan).
  • After consulting your doctor, this dose can be increased up to 4 film -coated tablets (corresponding to 2 g tryptophan).
• Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the drug is too strong or too weak.

 

• Duration of treatment
  • After 3 - 4 weeks, your doctor should check the need to continue treatment with the preparation.
  • There is no experience about the application in long -term treatment.
  • Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the drug is too strong or too weak.

 

• If you have taken a larger amount than you should
  • Poisoning with tryptophan, the active ingredient of the preparation, can only be expected in the case of considerable overdoses and express themselves as vomiting and the appearances of the serotonin syndrome.
  • Please inform a doctor in the event of suspicion. Symptomatic treatment is recommended as a medical measure with constant control and maintaining the vital functions.

 

• If you have forgotten the intake
  • Do not take the double dose, but use the intake as stated or prescribed by your doctor.

 

• If you have any further questions about the application of the drug, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Taking

• Take the film -coated tablets 20 - 30 minutes before going to bed with a little liquid.

Patient information

• Special care in taking the Arzneantrum is required
  • if they are treated with phenothiazines or benzodiazepines because of a mental illness. In this case, you should only take the preparation after express consultation with your doctor.
  • if you are treated with other inhibitors of monoaminoxidase such as Selegilin (drugs against Parkinson's disease), Procarbazine (medicines against cancer) or Furazolidone (medicines against infections). In these cases, you should also only take the medicine after consultation with your doctor.
  • if you suffer from high blood pressure. In this case, you should also consult your doctor before taking the preparation, since the medicine can influence blood pressure.
  • if you take dextrometorphan at the same time, an active ingredient that is contained in many free -selling coughing. In this case, caution is advised. Ask your doctor beforehand!
  • Under the treatment with medication containing tryptophanes, so-called eosinophilia myalgia diseases occurred that were attributed to contaminated raw materials. If a so-called eosinophilia (increase of certain white blood cells of the immune system) occurs together with muscle and joint pain, cramps, skin changes during or after treatment with tryptophan, this must be considered. In this case, the doctor must be informed of taking the tryptophan and cancel treatment with tryptophan immediately.
  • Children and adolescents
    • Since there is still no sufficient experiences for use in children and adolescents, this age group has not yet been intended for therapy with tryptophan.

 

• Wateriness and operating machines
  • This medicine can also change the reaction so far with intended use that the ability to actively participate in road traffic or to operate machines or to work is impaired without a safe hold. This applies even more in combination with alcohol.

Pregnancy

• You should not take the medicine during this time, since there is no experience to use the preparation during pregnancy and lactation. In justified cases, your doctor will decide whether to use the drug during pregnancy or during breastfeeding is necessary and possible.
