Brief information on tryptophan:
Tryptophan is one of the indispensable amino acids and plays an important role in the formation of specific hormones. Tryptophan is converted into its active metabolic form, 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP), using vitamin B6, magnesium and folic acid. Other important metabolites include serotonin and melatonin.

Examples of possible nutritional measures of tryptophan:
May be beneficial in certain pain conditions (e.g. fibromyalgia) and support healthy weight management.

Important NOTE:
Therapeutic doses are usually in the range of 50 mg to 3 g depending on the respective symptom therapy. With intakes higher than 3 g / d, nausea can occasionally occur. Likewise, the intake of tryptophan should be avoided in the case of gastrointestinal absorption restrictions. Tryptophan must not be taken in combination with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO) and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), as it can lead to toxic serotonin concentrations in the brain - sometimes with life-threatening side effects. Tryptophan should be avoided if you wish to have children or during pregnancy. Tryptophan leads to drowsiness, especially in combination with alcohol.
