Field of use
- The medicine is a migraine product that belongs to the group of fabrics that are known as selective serotonin receptor agonists. It is assumed that the preparation reduces the inflammatory reaction in migraines by binding itself to the serotonin receptors in the blood vessels in the brain (cranial blood vessels) and thereby causing it to narrow.
- It is used to relieve headaches in migraine attacks with or without aura.

Contradictions
- The medicine must not be taken,
- if you are allergic to Almotriptan or one of the other components of this drug.
- if you suffer or have suffered from diseases that restrict the blood supply to the heart, such as: B.:
- Heart attack
- Pain or symptoms in the chest that usually occur in the event of activity or stress
- Heart problems without pain
- Pain in the breast at rest
- heavy hypertension (severe high blood pressure)
- uncontrolled light or moderately pronounced hypertension.
- if you had a stroke or a restriction of the blood flow to the brain
- if you had a closure of the large arteries of the legs or arms (peripheral vascular disease)
- if you take other medicines for migraines, including ergotamine, dihydroergotamine and methysergide or other serotonin agonists (e.g. sumatriptan)
- if you suffer from a serious liver disease
dosage
- Only take the preparation for the treatment of an actual migraine attack and not to prevent migraine attacks or headaches.
- Always take this medicine exactly after consultation with your doctor. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
- Adults (18-65 years)
- The recommended dose is a tablet of 12.5 mg, which is to be taken as early as possible after the migraine attack is inserted. If your migraine attack does not subside, do not take more than a tablet for the same attack.
- If a second migraine attack uses within 24 hours, a second tablet can be taken to 12.5 mg, but at least 2 hours must have passed between your first and second tablet.
- The maximum daily dose is two (12.5 mg) tablets within 24 hours.
- The drug should be taken as early as possible after the migraine's head pain is inserted. But it is also effective if it is taken later at a later date of the migraine attack.
- Severe kidney disease
- If you have severe kidney disease, you must not take more than one tablet of 12.5 mg within 24 hours.
- If you have taken a larger amount than you should
- If you have accidentally taken too many tablets or if someone else has taken this or a child of this medicine, speak immediately to a doctor or pharmacist.
- If you have forgotten the intake
- Take the drug as Wi as possiblee prescribed. Do not take the double dose to compensate for a forgotten tablet.
- If you have any further questions about the application of the drug, ask your doctor, pharmacist or medical staff.
Taking
- Take in the tablets with liquid (e.g. water). The tablets can be taken regardless of meals.

- Please speak to your doctor, pharmacist or the medical staff before taking the preparation
- if your migraine type has not been diagnosed
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) against antibacterial medicines that are mainly used to treat urinary tract infections (sulfonamides)
- if your headache complaints differ from your ordinary seizures, i.e. H. If you z. B. have ear noises or dizziness if you have a short paralysis of a half of the body or a paralysis of the muscles that control the eye movement or if you have any new symptoms
- if you have risk factors for heart disease such as B. uncontrolled high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, diabetes, smoking, clear family preload for heart disease; for women beyond menopause or men over 40 years

- if you suffer from severe kidney disease

- if you take antidepressants such as SSRIS (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) or Snris (serotonin-noradrenalin reuptake inhibitor).
- Headache in drug use (Müks)
- Long -term use of painkillers in headaches can lead to their worsening. If such a case occurs or if it is suspected, you should obtain medical advice and interrupt the treatment. The diagnosis of medication overheating during headaches (Müks) should be considered if you have headaches frequently or daily, although (or because) you take headache regularly.
- Children and adolescents
- Children under the age of 18 must not take the medicine.
- Older patients (over 65 years)
- If you are older than 65 years old, you should speak to your doctor before taking this medicine.
- Please speak to your doctor, pharmacist or the medical staff before taking the preparation
- Wateriness and ability to operate machines
- Almotriptan can cause sleepiness. If this is the case with you, you must not carry a vehicle and not operate tools or machines.
Pregnancy
- If you are pregnant or breastfeed, or if you suspect that you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this drug.
- Pregnancy
- For Almotriptan, there are only very limited data about pregnant patients. Almotriptan should only be taken during pregnancy if your doctor orders this and only after he has carried out a careful benefit/risk consideration.
- Breastfeeding
- Caution should be exercised when taking this medicine during breastfeeding. After taking this medicine, you should not breastfeed for 24 hours.
