How does the active ingredient in the medicine work?

The active ingredient helps with allergies and relieves itching. It suppresses the effect of the body's own substance histamine by displacing it from its binding sites. As a tissue hormone and messenger substance, histamine plays an important role in the development of inflammation and allergic reactions. Blocking its binding sites interrupts the allergic reaction process.

- Children under 12 years of age: The medicine should generally not be used in this group. There are preparations that are more suitable in terms of active ingredient strength and/or dosage form.

- Breastfeeding: Based on current knowledge, use is not recommended. Weaning may be considered.

- Hypersensitivity reactions of the skin, such as:
- Itching
- Abnormalities in EKG (Prolongation of QT-duration)
- Cardiac arrhythmias
- Increased kidney function (creatinine)
- Increased liver function
- Increased blood lipid levels (serum triglycerides)
- Herpes virus infection
- Fever
- General weakness
- Improvement of a pre-existing condition
- EKG- Change (abnormal EKG)

Notes

What should you be aware of?
- Be careful if you are allergic to binding agents (e.g., carboxymethylcellulose with the E number E 466)!
- There may be medications with which interactions occur. Therefore, you should generally inform your doctor or pharmacist about any other medication you are already taking before starting treatment with a new medication. This also applies to medications you buy yourself, use only occasionally, or have used for some time.
- Grapefruit and grapefruit preparations should be avoided completely during treatment with this medication.

Area of application

Allegra® Allergy & Hay Fever Melting Tablets with Bilastine (Pack size: 6 tablets) are used to relieve typical allergy symptoms of the nose, eyes, or skin associated with hay fever, house dust and pet hair allergies, or hives (urticaria).
The tablets contain the active ingredient bilastine, an antihistamine. You can also use Allegra® Allergy & Hay Fever Melting Tablets with Bilastine (Pack size: 6 pcs) for itchy rashes, redness, or hives on the skin (hives or urticaria).

IDEALE EINNAHME – AUCH ON THE GO:Allegra® Allergy & Hay Fever Meltable Tablets with Bilastine (Pack Size: 6 pcs) with strawberry flavor melt on the tongue without water and effectively control allergy symptoms for 24 hours – with just one tablet a day. It is ideally taken one hour before or two hours after breakfast.

Allegra® for which allergy?
1.) HAY FEVER: Seasonal allergic rhinitis (colloquially hay fever) is usually accompanied by symptoms such as sudden sneezing attacks and/or a runny or stuffy nose. These are triggered by an allergic reaction to pollen from grasses, flowers, or trees. At the same time, stinging, watery, or itchy eyes may occur – possible signs of allergic conjunctivitis.
2.) GANZJÄHRIGE AUSLÖSER Allergic rhinitis, such as house dust mites, pet dander, and mold, can cause the same symptoms.
3.) JUCKREIZ DURCH Hives: Hives (urticaria) are characterized by red, circular, raised, and itchy wheals on the skin surface, similar to those seen after contact with nettles. The rash usually appears on the upper body, neck, arms, or legs. The size of the wheals can vary – from very small to the size of a dinner plate.

Mode of action

Allegra® Allergy & Hay fever meltable tablets with bilastine (pack size: 6 pcs) contain the active ingredient bilastine. This latest-generation antihistamine has been available over the counter since 2023 and is effective for allergy symptoms such as sneezing, watery eyes, and itching, redness, and hives on the skin.
The tablets usually work within 30 to 60 minutes and relieve symptoms for 24 hours. Allegra® Allergy & Hay Fever Melting Tablets with Bilastine (Pack size: 6 tablets) does not cause more drowsiness than caused by the allergy itself.

Active ingredients / Ingredients

Allegra® Allergy & Hay Fever Melting Tablets with Bilastine (Pack size: 6 tablets) contains:

The active ingredient is bilastine.
One melting tablet contains 20 mg bilastine.

- The other ingredients are:
Mannitol (E 421), microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium (see section 2, "Allegra Allergy Tablets contain sodium"), simaldrate, sucralose, strawberry flavor (main ingredients are maltodextrin, propylene glycol, and gum arabic), magnesium stearate, colloidal silicon dioxide.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the above ingredients, this product should not be used.

Dosage

Recommended use of Allegra® Allergy & Hay Fever Melting Tablets with Bilastine (Pack size: 6 tablets):

The tablet is for oral use.
- Place the orodispersible tablet in your mouth. It will dissolve quickly in saliva and can then be easily swallowed.
- Alternatively, you can dissolve the orodispersible tablet in a teaspoon of water before taking the medicine. Care must be taken to ensure that no sediment remains on the spoon.
- Use only water for dilution. Do not use grapefruit juice or other fruit juices for dissolving.
- The tablet must be taken one hour before or two hours after consuming food or fruit juice.

How to take

• The orodispersible tablet is for oral use.
• Please place the orodispersible tablet in your mouth. It dissolves quickly in saliva and can then be easily swallowed.
• Alternatively, the orodispersible tablet can be dissolved in water before taking.
  • Use only water for dissolving, not grapefruit juice or other fruit juices.
• The orodispersible tablet must be taken one hour before or two hours after eating food or drinking fruit juice (see instructions for use).

  • Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if you suffer from moderate to severe kidney impairment and are also taking other medicines.
  • Do not take more than the recommended dose. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.
• Children
  • Do not give this medicine to children under 12 years of age.

 

• Driving and using machines
  • 20 Mg of bilastine has been shown to have no effect on the ability to drive in adults. However, each patient's response to the medicine may vary. Therefore, you should check how you react to this medicine before driving or operating machinery.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. There is no or limited data on the use of bilastine in pregnant women and during breastfeeding, or on its effects on fertility.
